Requirements
Eligibility depends on which of the three constitutional routes applies to you.
- By birth: you were born in Zimbabwe and, when you were born, your mother or father was a Zimbabwean citizen, or any of your grandparents was a citizen by birth or descent.
- By descent: you were born outside Zimbabwe and, when you were born, a parent or grandparent was a Zimbabwean citizen by birth or descent (or a parent was a citizen by registration), and your birth is registered in Zimbabwe.
- By registration (marriage): you have been married to a Zimbabwean citizen for at least five years.
- By registration (residence): you have been continuously and lawfully resident in Zimbabwe for at least ten years.

Frequently asked questions
