For entry, travellers are generally expected to hold a valid passport and to be able to show proof of accommodation, onward or return travel, and sufficient means of support. Passport validity requirements should be checked before travel.
Visa and residence applications require additional documents according to the route: an invitation letter for business, a letter of acceptance for study, an approved work authorisation for employment, and civil-status documents (such as marriage or birth certificates) for family-based routes. Documents issued abroad may need to be translated and legalised.
