Whether you need a visa is determined by your nationality and by bilateral agreements. Nationals of a large number of countries can enter Tunisia visa-free for short stays, while nationals of other countries must obtain a visa before travelling.

Purpose and duration also matter: visa-free and short-stay visas cover tourism and short business visits, but working, studying or living in Tunisia requires a long-stay visa and a residence permit, and in the case of employment a work authorisation obtained by the employer.
