As a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), Trinidad and Tobago participates in the free movement of skilled nationals. Eligible CARICOM nationals in approved categories who hold a Skills Certificate may travel to Trinidad and Tobago, receive an initial entry stamp, begin work, and — once the certificate is verified — obtain an indefinite stay, with spouses and dependants enjoying the same rights.
CARICOM nationals should consult the CSME resources of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs for the eligible skills categories and the certificate application process. This is separate from the ordinary work permit regime for non-CARICOM nationals.
