How to apply for a South Sudan visa
The main way to apply is online through the official eVisa portal; some travellers apply at a South Sudanese embassy instead.
Important
Most visitors to South Sudan apply online through the official eVisa portal at evisa.gov.ss, operated by the Department of e-Visa and Immigration Services. The portal describes a three-step process: create an account and complete the application form, pay the fee by credit or debit card, and download the e-Visa PDF, which the portal says is available within 72 hours.
On arrival, you present the printed or saved PDF eVisa together with your passport to the visa officer at the port of entry, who verifies the visa and checks your travel documents. Travellers whose nationality cannot use the eVisa are directed to apply at a South Sudanese embassy, or to obtain a visa on arrival where eligible.
The online steps
- Create an account and fill in the visa application form on evisa.gov.ss
- Upload your passport bio-data page, photograph and any supporting documents
- Pay the fee online by credit or debit card
- Download the e-Visa PDF (available within 72 hours) and carry it for arrival
