Eligibility for a South Sudan visa depends on nationality and purpose of travel. The official eVisa portal has an eligibility check that indicates whether your nationality can apply online; those who cannot are directed to a South Sudanese embassy or a visa on arrival where available. South Sudanese nationals do not need a visa.

Different routes exist for tourism, business, transit, study, work and official duty. Work in South Sudan additionally requires a Ministry of Labour work permit, and diplomatic or official travellers use the courtesy/diplomatic visa route.

Check before you travel

  • Use the eligibility tool on evisa.gov.ss to see if you can apply online
  • Confirm the correct route for your purpose (tourism, business, transit, study, work, official)
  • Remember that employment requires a separate work permit from the Ministry of Labour
