How to apply

  • Register the company / investment through APIX
  • Apply for the foreigner identity card with the DPETV on the basis of the business activity
  • Provide the required documents and pay the applicable fees

Requirements

  • Any foreigner staying in Senegal for more than 3 months must hold a foreigner's identity card (carte d'identité d'étranger).
  • You must obtain prior authorisation to reside, granted by the Minister of the Interior and Public Security.
  • A repatriation bond (caution de rapatriement) must be lodged.
  • You must show means of subsistence in Senegal — for investors and business owners, evidence of your company and its activity.
  • A clean criminal record and a medical certificate from a doctor established in Senegal are required.

  • Handwritten request for authorisation to establish residence, addressed to the Minister of the Interior and Public Security
  • Birth certificate less than 6 months old
  • Criminal record extract from your country of origin, less than 3 months old (for renewal: a Senegal criminal record extract less than 3 months old)
  • Medical certificate from a doctor established in Senegal
  • 3 identity photographs
  • Certified copy of your passport
  • Proof of means of subsistence in Senegal (for investors/business owners: company registration and activity documents)
  • Tax stamp (timbre fiscal) of 15,000 FCFA
  • Receipt for the repatriation bond (caution de rapatriement), 75,000 FCFA

Frequently asked questions

  • On lodging a complete file you are given a receipt (récépissé) valid for 6 months that legalises your stay. The physical card, valid for 5 years, is produced afterwards and can take some months to be issued.
