Slovenian Temporary Residence Permit for Study

Who it's for

Non-EU/EEA nationals accepted onto a course of study, education, training or an internship at a recognised Slovenian institution.

Requirements

• Valid passport (with validity beyond the intended stay)
• Proof of enrolment or admission to a Slovenian educational institution
• Adequate health insurance
• Sufficient means of subsistence for the study period
• Proof of accommodation
• No grounds for refusal

What you can do

• Reside in Slovenia for the duration of your studies
• Study at the enrolling institution and undertake training/internship
• Work on a limited basis under student-work rules
• Renew the permit each year until you complete your studies

How to apply

If you need a visa to enter, apply for a national long-stay (Type D) visa at a Slovenian diplomatic mission before travelling; otherwise apply for the temporary residence permit at the administrative unit before your lawful stay ends.

Submit proof of enrolment, insurance, funds and accommodation. On approval, collect the residence card and register your residence locally.
