Yes. Researchers can reunite with family members without the prior-residence requirement that applies to many other permits, and family members are exempt from the A1 Slovenian requirement.

How to apply

The application can be filed by the researcher or by the hosting institution, at a Slovenian diplomatic mission abroad or at an administrative unit in Slovenia (in-country if already legally resident).

The hosting agreement is the central document. On approval, the researcher collects a residence card; taking up separate employment requires a single residence and work permit under normal conditions.
