Slovenian Permanent Residence Permit (EU Long-Term Resident Status)

Who it's for

Non-EU nationals who have lawfully lived in Slovenia for five continuous years and want to settle permanently, plus specific groups (Blue Card holders, family of permanent residents/EU citizens, people of Slovenian descent) who qualify on adjusted terms.

Requirements

• Five years of continuous and lawful residence (as a rule)
• Valid health insurance
• Sufficient means of subsistence
• Basic Slovenian language knowledge (A2 level)
• Clean criminal record
• Valid passport

What you can do

• Reside in Slovenia indefinitely, without regular renewals
• Enjoy near-equal treatment with nationals in many areas, including labour-market access
• Hold EU long-term resident status, easing movement to other EU states
• Sponsor family reunification on the most favourable basis

How to apply

Apply at the competent administrative unit with proof of the qualifying residence period, insurance, means, language certificate and a clean record.

After a positive decision, collect the permanent residence card in person. Note that time on a study permit counts at half value towards the five-year requirement.
