Slovenian Temporary Residence Permit for Digital Nomads

Who it's for

Non-EU/EEA nationals who earn their living remotely for employers or clients based outside Slovenia (or as a self-employed person abroad) and want to live in Slovenia for up to a year.

Requirements

• Non-EU/EEA nationality
• Remote work for a business or as self-employed based outside Slovenia
• Monthly income of at least twice the average net monthly salary in Slovenia
• Valid passport
• Adequate health insurance
• No grounds for refusal

What you can do

• Live in Slovenia for up to one year while working remotely for foreign employers/clients
• Bring family members immediately, for an equivalent period
• Switch to another temporary residence permit if your circumstances change (e.g. Slovenian employment)

How to apply

Apply at a Slovenian diplomatic mission or consulate abroad, or — if you are already legally in Slovenia (including visa-free entry) — at any administrative unit, which issues a certificate letting you stay lawfully until the decision is made.

Provide proof of remote work for foreign-based entities and of the required income. Because the permit cannot be renewed, plan around the one-year limit and the six-month wait before reapplying.
