After you arrive in Slovakia
New arrivals must report their residence to the Foreign Police and, after the card is granted, provide health insurance and a medical report.
Important
Once you enter Slovakia on a national long-stay route, several obligations run on short deadlines. The first is reporting the start of your stay; further steps around health insurance and a medical report follow the issue of your residence card. Missing these deadlines can jeopardise your residence status.
Address and personal-detail changes must also be reported to the Foreign Police during your stay, keeping your registration accurate.
Immediately after arrival
- Report the beginning of your residence to the competent Foreign Police department within 3 working days of arrival
- If you stay in a hotel, hostel or dormitory the accommodation provider usually reports this for you; in private accommodation you report it in person
After the residence card is issued
- Arrange Slovak health insurance within 3 working days of receiving the residence card
- Submit to the Foreign Police, within 30 days of collecting the card, a health-insurance document and a medical report (not older than 30 days) confirming you have no disease dangerous to public health
Ongoing obligations
- Report changes of address and other material personal changes to the Foreign Police
- Keep your residence purpose valid, as a temporary residence permit is bound to a single purpose
