Appointments and biometrics for a Liechtenstein application
Visa applications are lodged via a Swiss representation abroad; biometric residence-card data is captured in person at the office in Vaduz.
Important
Liechtenstein and Switzerland share the same entry regulations, and Liechtenstein has no consular network of its own. Third-country nationals therefore submit the visa element of a move to Liechtenstein through the competent Swiss diplomatic representation (embassy/consulate) at their place of residence abroad, and must wait for the assurance or authorisation to issue the visa before entering.
The biometric element - for the residence card - is handled inside Liechtenstein. Biometric data is captured in person at the Migration and Passport Office counter, so an in-country appointment forms part of obtaining the card after the permit is approved.
Applying / booking from abroad
- Lodge the visa application at the relevant Swiss representation for your place of residence
- Third-country nationals must await authorisation abroad before travelling
- Family members of an EEA/Swiss national resident in Liechtenstein who do not need a visa may await confirmation in Liechtenstein
Biometrics for the residence card
- Facial image, fingerprints and signature are captured directly at the Migration and Passport Office counter
- A separate passport photo is not needed because the image is taken on site
- The biometric residence card is produced to EU-compliant specifications
