This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Your first step is to identify the right route for your purpose and nationality. Short visits use either visa-free entry with an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) or a visitor visa; longer stays use work permits, student visas, residence permits, or the citizenship routes.

Visitor and student visas are applied for online through the official e-visa portal, with the approved visa issued by email. Almost all air travellers must also obtain an eTA and complete the Online Immigration and Customs ED Form through the Electronic Border Management System before travel. Work permits are employer-driven and go through the Labour Department, while citizenship by investment must be filed through a government-authorised agent.
