Who needs a visa for Montenegro
How nationality and purpose determine whether you travel visa-free, need a short-stay Visa C, or need a long-stay Visa D and residence permit.
Important
Nationals of many countries — including EU member states and a wide range of others — may enter Montenegro visa-free for short stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period, counted from the date of first entry. Others need a short-stay visa (Visa C) for the same purpose.
Montenegro has aligned its visa policy with the European Union, which has changed the list of nationalities that need a visa. For stays longer than 90 days you generally need a long-stay visa (Visa D) and/or a temporary residence permit tied to a specific purpose such as employment, study, family reunification or business.
