Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Whether you need a visa for Mauritius depends on your nationality and the reason and length of your stay. Many nationalities, including EU passport holders, are exempt from visas for short tourist visits, while others must obtain a visa before travelling. Spouses and children of Mauritian citizens are generally visa-exempt for entry.

Even where a visa is granted, it does not guarantee admission: the final decision to admit a non-citizen rests with the Immigration Officer at the port of entry. For stays involving work, study, investment or retirement, a short-stay visa is not enough — you need the relevant Occupation Permit, Residence Permit, Student Visa or Premium Visa.
