Who is eligible to enter or stay in Kazakhstan
Eligibility depends on nationality (visa-free, e-Visa or full visa), the purpose of travel, and whether a supporting document such as an invitation or work permit exists.
Important
Kazakhstan groups foreign nationals by how they may enter. Citizens of visa-free countries may visit for short stays without a visa. Citizens of e-Visa eligible countries may apply online for tourism, business or medical treatment. All other nationalities apply for a paper visa at a mission.
For any stay beyond a short visit, eligibility is tied to a concrete ground: an employment offer with an employer permit (work), enrolment at a recognised institution (study), a qualifying family relationship (family reunification), a business or investment (business immigrant / investor), or proof of stable foreign income (digital nomad / neo nomad). Long-term categories fall under Category C and provide the legal basis for a subsequent residence permit.
