Processing times vary widely by route. PICA states that extensions of stay are processed within three working days, permanent residence applications within three to six months, and citizenship by descent within 25 working days. Applications for naturalisation, citizenship by marriage and registration are prepared for submission to the Minister for approval within 24 months.
