Who it is for

  • Foreign nationals visiting Iran for tourism, leisure or to see friends and relatives
  • Independent travellers and organised tour groups
  • Nationals not eligible for visa-free entry or a visa on arrival

Requirements

  • A passport valid for the required period with at least one blank page
  • A recent passport-style photograph meeting the portal's specifications
  • Completed online application with a valid, authenticated email address
  • Travel details and, where required, confirmation of a tour booked through a registered agency
  • Additional documentation may be requested from certain nationalities

What you can do

  • Enter Iran for tourism and to visit friends and family
  • Extend the stay while inside Iran through the immigration authorities
  • Not permitted: paid work or study on this visa

How to apply

  • Create an application on the official MFA e-visa portal and authenticate your email
  • Complete the form and upload the required documents
  • Select the Iranian embassy/consulate where the visa will be collected
  • Attend an interview if requested and pay the applicable fees
  • Receive the visa grant number and have the visa issued/stamped
