Who it is for

  • Travellers arriving in Ghana without a pre-arranged visa who meet the prescribed conditions
  • Not required for ECOWAS nationals and certain exempt categories

Requirements

  • Business applications: certificate to commence business, certificate of incorporation, company code, tax clearance certificate, and host and guest bio-data pages
  • Personal applications: bank statement, host and guest bio-data pages, flight itinerary and hotel reservation

How to apply

Submit an application letter to the Comptroller-General of Immigration stating country of origin, arrival date, duration of stay, purpose of visit, travel itinerary and lodging details, with the supporting documents for the relevant application type. The visa is granted subject to conditions at the point of entry.

Cost

The GIS Fees and Charges schedule (effective 15 May 2025) lists the Emergency Entry Visa / Visa on Arrival at US$200, with a separate EEV (Returning Resident) rate of GH¢259. The visa is requested in advance by writing to the Comptroller-General of Immigration and is granted at the point of entry subject to the officer's conditions.
