Visa routes

• Ghana Tourist / Visitor VisaVisa route

  For travellers visiting Ghana for tourism or to see family and friends. Obtained in advance from a Ghanaian diplomatic mission abroad on either a single- or multiple-journey basis.

• Ghana Business VisaVisa route

  For travellers coming to Ghana for business. Issued at a Ghanaian mission abroad and requiring supporting letters from your own organisation and from your business associates in Ghana.

• Ghana Transit VisaVisa route

  For travellers passing through Ghana on the way to another country. According to the Ghana Immigration Service, this transit visa is issued within Ghana itself.

• Ghana Visa on Arrival / Emergency Entry VisaVisa route

  An emergency entry stamp issued on arrival for travellers who could not obtain a visa in advance, for example where there is no nearby Ghanaian mission, at short notice, or where a Ghana-based sponsor applies for them.

• Re-Entry VisaVisa route

  Issued in Ghana to a permit holder or visitor who wants to leave the country temporarily and return without losing their status.

• Visa / Permit ExtensionVisa route

  An extension of a visitor's visa or permit, for those already in Ghana who need more time before leaving the country.

• Emergency Entry Visa (EEV)Visa route

  Granted at the point of entry to a traveller who arrives in Ghana without a visa, subject to conditions and to approval by the immigration officer.
