The eVisa portal and entry rules
Eswatini's online visa system and the rules that apply at the border, including short-stay limits and extensions.
Important
Eswatini operates an official eVisa portal at evisa.gov.sz, letting eligible travellers apply online and receive an electronic visa instead of visiting a mission or seeking a visa on arrival. The Ministry's guidance is that visas are issued and affixed before departure rather than at the border.
Visa-exempt tourists and business visitors are generally granted a short stay on entry, after which a further extension can be requested from the Ministry of Home Affairs; longer stays require a Temporary Residence Permit. A visa or exemption never overrides the Immigration Officer's authority to decide admission at the port of entry.
Good to know
- Apply online at evisa.gov.sz and download the electronic visa once approved
- Short stays can be extended by applying to the Ministry of Home Affairs
- Stays beyond the short-stay period need a Temporary Residence Permit
- The Immigration Officer at the border makes the final admission decision
