As a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Barbados participates in regional free-movement arrangements for CARICOM nationals that are distinct from the ordinary visa and work-permit routes. The Immigration Department's downloadable forms include provisions for the movement of CARICOM skilled nationals.
These arrangements affect several routes: CARICOM skilled nationals can move to work in Barbados under regional rules rather than the standard section 17 work permit, and some student-visa document requirements are relaxed for CARICOM nationals under 16 (for example, the Certificate of Eligibility Form H-1 and Form H-2 are not required for CARICOM nationals under 16).
Because the detailed eligibility, categories of skilled national and any certification requirements are governed by CARICOM instruments administered through the Immigration Department, applicants should confirm the current requirements with the Department directly.
