Bangladeshi visa resources
Who Needs a Bangladesh Visa
Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality and purpose; a short list of countries have visa-free access, some qualify for visa on arrival, and people of Bangladeshi origin may hold a No Visa Required endorsement.
Important
Most foreign nationals need a visa to enter Bangladesh, obtained in advance through visa.gov.bd or a Bangladesh mission. A limited number of nationalities can enter visa-free for short stays, and citizens of certain countries (including the US, Canada, Australia, EU states, Japan, China, Malaysia and several Gulf states) may qualify for a visa on arrival for eligible purposes.
Foreign nationals of Bangladeshi origin, together with their spouses and children, may instead obtain a No Visa Required (NVR) endorsement allowing multiple entries for the validity of their foreign passport. Israeli passport holders are refused entry and transit.
The correct category depends on purpose: tourism, business, employment, investment, study, family reunion, journalism, missionary or NGO work each have their own requirements.
Routes to consider
- Short visit / tourism: tourist visa, visa-free entry, or visa on arrival if eligible
- Work: employment (E) visa and work permit via BIDA OSS
- Study: student visa with proof of admission
- Family: family visa or NVR for those of Bangladeshi origin
- Investment/business: business or investor (P1) visa
