Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

How you apply for entry to Bahrain depends on why you are travelling. Short visits for tourism, business or transit are handled online through the official eVisa portal at evisa.gov.bh, or via visa-on-arrival at the airport for eligible nationalities. Both are administered by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) under the Ministry of Interior.

Longer stays involve a sponsor and a different authority. Employment is sponsored by a Bahrain-licensed employer through the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), which also processes dependants of workers. Study, family sponsorship outside the LMRA route, long-term Golden Residency and nationality matters are handled by the NPRA. Always start from the official portal for your route rather than a third-party agent.

Pick the right channel

  • Short visit / tourism / business / transit — official eVisa portal (evisa.gov.bh) or visa-on-arrival
  • Employment — employer applies via the LMRA EMS
  • Study, Golden Residency, family via NPRA, nationality — NPRA channels
