ASAN Visa desk at an international airport
Issued through the ASAN Visa system at Azerbaijan's international airports since 15 May 2018.

Who it is for

  • Travellers of eligible nationalities arriving by air
  • Visitors who have not obtained an e-Visa in advance but qualify for arrival issuance

How to apply

  • Use the E-ASAN Self-Desk kiosk in the arrivals hall before passport control
  • Complete the on-screen application and pay the fee
  • Proceed to passport control with the issued visa

Requirements

Visa on arrival is issued through the ASAN Visa system at Azerbaijan's international airports only for specific categories set out in law and in intergovernmental agreements. It is not a general option, and travellers are strongly advised to obtain an e-visa in advance instead.

  • Holders of a United Arab Emirates residence visa valid for more than 6 months.
  • Holders of a residence permit valid for more than 6 months in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar or Kuwait.
  • Citizens of the United States arriving on a direct New York-Baku flight.
  • People travelling to Azerbaijan because of the death of a family member.
  • Nationals of countries that have direct air connections with Azerbaijan but where Azerbaijan has no accredited diplomatic mission or consulate.
  • A passport valid for your intended stay and issuance is at the discretion of border authorities.

Frequently asked questions

  • No. It is limited to specific categories, such as holders of long-term Gulf residence permits, US citizens on the direct New York-Baku flight, and nationals of countries with a direct air link but no Azerbaijani mission. Everyone else should apply for an e-visa in advance.
