How to apply for residence in Argentina (RaDEX)

Almost all residence applications to the Direccion Nacional de Migraciones are started online through the RaDEX system while the applicant is in Argentina, followed by an in-person appointment.

Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Applications for transitory, temporary and permanent residence are initiated through the RaDEX (Registro Digital a Distancia) online system. Migraciones states that the procedure is personal and straightforward, that no gestor (paid agent) is needed, and that the only payments required are those generated by the web platform.

The general flow is the same across categories: register in RaDEX, complete the application form and pay the platform fees, upload the required documentation, and then attend an in-person appointment on the date notified by email. As a rule, the applicant must be physically present in Argentine territory to begin the procedure. Those applying from abroad in certain categories instead request a Permiso de Ingreso through an Argentine consulate.

Typical steps

  • Register and complete the application in RaDEX
  • Pay the platform fees
  • Upload supporting documents (legalised/apostilled and translated where needed)
  • Attend the in-person appointment when notified
