Who Needs a Visa for Venezuela
How Venezuela decides whether you need a visa — based on nationality and purpose — and which nationalities have lost visa-free access.
Important
Whether you need a visa depends first on your nationality. Nationals of a large number of countries — most EU member states, most of Latin America, and a range of others — can enter for tourism visa-free for up to 90 days. Nationals not on the exemption list must obtain a visa in advance.
Some nationalities that were previously visa-exempt now require a visa, including the United States (from 2015) and Canada (from 2019); their nationals apply through the online e-visa system. Purpose also matters: even a visa-exempt traveller must hold the correct visa to work, study, invest or settle, rather than relying on the tourism exemption.
