Tanzania operates an electronic visa (e-Visa) system through visa.immigration.go.tz, which lets eligible travellers apply and pay online without visiting an embassy. The approved e-Visa is presented on arrival at Tanzania's designated entry points.

Tanzania has been moving travellers toward obtaining their visa online before departure rather than at the border. Because arrangements for visa-on-arrival have been changing, travellers should not assume a visa will be available at the airport, land border or seaport, and should secure the correct e-Visa in advance and confirm the current rules for their nationality with the Immigration Services Department.
