Tanzania visas

Whether you need a visa or permit to enter or stay in Tanzania depends on your nationality and the purpose and length of your visit. Some nationals — including citizens of East African Community member states and a number of other exempt countries — may enter visa-free, while most other travellers apply for an electronic visa (e-Visa) before arrival, and those coming to work, study, invest or settle apply for the relevant residence permit or pass. All of these are administered by the Tanzania Immigration Services Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs, through its e-services and e-Visa portals.
