Registering with the authorities after you arrive

Foreign nationals are expected to register with the aliens/foreigners authorities shortly after arriving in Sudan.

Foreign visitors staying in Sudan are generally required to register with the Aliens (Foreigners) Department of the Ministry of Interior shortly after arrival, in addition to holding a valid entry visa. Registration has historically been required within a few days of entry.

Travel within parts of the country and to certain areas may also require a separate travel/photography permit. Because these procedures and any current restrictions can change — particularly during the ongoing conflict — travellers should confirm the exact registration deadline and any permit requirements with the Ministry of Interior or their sponsor on arrival.
