Visa need depends on nationality and purpose; most foreign nationals need an eTAS, while some are exempt.

Whether you need a visa for federally controlled Somalia depends on your nationality and the reason for your visit. Most foreign nationals must obtain an eVisa/eTAS online before arrival. Visa-exempt nationals, holders of valid Somali residence or work permits, and holders of multiple-entry visas issued before 1 September 2025 are generally exempt from the eTAS requirement.

Somaliland operates its own separate entry rules; the Somali eTAS does not apply there, and travellers to Somaliland must follow that region's requirements.
