Sweden charges a national application fee for most residence-permit routes, set in Swedish kronor (SEK) and payable when you apply. Fees are not refunded if your application is refused. Amounts differ by route and, for family and study routes, by whether the applicant is an adult or a child under 18.

Verified national fees (SEK)
- Work permit (employee): SEK 2,200.
- Self-employed person residence permit: SEK 2,000.
- Residence permit to come to Sweden to look for work or start a business: SEK 2,200.
- Residence permit for higher-education studies: SEK 1,500 for adults, SEK 750 for children under 18.
- Family members of an employee/self-employed person or of a student: SEK 1,500 for adults, SEK 750 for children under 18.
