Requirements

  • Documented purpose of the long stay (e.g. granted residence permit, scholarship, contract)
  • Proof of accommodation and sufficient financial means for the stay
  • Travel medical insurance
  • No threat to public order, security or public health

How to apply

Apply in person at the Slovak embassy or consulate in your country of residence, submitting the form, passport, purpose documents, proof of funds, accommodation and insurance.

Because the Type D visa is usually tied to an underlying purpose (a granted residence permit, a scholarship, a seasonal job), the supporting documents depend on that purpose. The consulate decides within the periods set by Act No. 404/2011.
