Denmark's immigration authority
Danish immigration is run by two national bodies - SIRI and the Danish Immigration Service - both operating through the official portal nyidanmark.dk (New to Denmark).

Denmark's residence-permit system is administered by two authorities under the Ministry of Immigration and Integration. SIRI - the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (Styrelsen for International Rekruttering og Integration) - handles work, study, and related residence schemes and runs the in-country service centres where applicants attend in person. The Danish Immigration Service (Udlaendingestyrelsen) handles family reunification, asylum, and permanent-residence cases.
Both authorities share the official public portal nyidanmark.dk, branded in English as New to Denmark, which hosts the application forms, fee tables, processing-time pages, and booking tools.
Who does what
- SIRI: work and study residence schemes, researcher routes, and in-person service centres for biometrics and appointments.
- Danish Immigration Service: family reunification, asylum, and permanent-residence decisions.
- Danish diplomatic missions (embassies/consulates): receive applications and biometrics from applicants who are abroad.
