Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Austrian national residence titles carry federal administrative charges (Bundesverwaltungsabgaben) set out in law. The main fee is a single application charge levied when you lodge a residence-title application; separate consular and card-related charges can also apply depending on the route and whether an entry visa (visa D) is needed to collect the permit.

Because Austrian fees are updated periodically and vary by permit type and applicant age, always confirm the current amount for your specific route with the competent authority or Austrian representation before paying.

Verified fee

  • Application fee for a temporary residence permit card (e.g. Red-White-Red Card plus): 218 Euro (stated by BMEIA as effective from 1 January 2026, and quoted on oesterreich.gv.at and migration.gv.at)

Other charges to confirm

The following are commonly referenced but should be confirmed against the official fee schedule for your route before relying on them:

  • The consular / visa D fee charged by the representation abroad when an entry visa is needed to collect the permit
  • Any separate charge for the biometric card (photo/signature) and for renewals
  • Higher charges that apply to the EU long-term residence (Daueraufenthalt-EU) title
