CARICOM Free Movement and Saint Lucia
How Saint Lucia's CARICOM membership affects entry and stay for Caribbean Community nationals.
Important
Saint Lucia is a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and the Saint Lucia passport is a CARICOM passport. Nationals of CARICOM member states are shown as visa-exempt on the Department of External Affairs list and generally benefit from free-movement arrangements that allow longer stays than ordinary visitors.
CARICOM free movement also affects employment: when assessing work permit applications, the authorities consider whether a qualified Saint Lucian or CARICOM national is available for the role. Skilled CARICOM nationals may benefit from regional arrangements, so Caribbean applicants should check both the immigration rules and any CARICOM skills-certificate provisions before applying.
