Requirements

• Your nationality must be covered either by a permanent bilateral visa-waiver agreement with Mongolia, or by a current temporary exemption measure announced by the Mongolian government.
• A passport valid for the duration of your stay (Mongolian missions generally advise at least six months' passport validity).
• Entry must be for a permitted short-stay purpose (typically tourism / private visit); visa-free entry does not cover work, study or long-term residence.
• The permitted visa-free period depends on your nationality — some agreements allow up to 90 days, while the temporary exemption for certain countries allows up to 30 days.

How to apply

If your nationality is exempt, no visa is issued in advance — you present your valid passport to a Mongolian border officer on arrival and are admitted for the permitted visa-free period.

If you need to stay longer than your visa-free allowance, you can apply to extend your stay once through the Immigration Agency of Mongolia (in person, or via immigration.gov.mn). Because exemptions and their expiry dates change, always confirm your specific nationality's rules on the Immigration Agency site or with a Mongolian embassy before you travel.
