Who Needs a Mongolian Visa

How nationality, purpose and length of stay determine whether you need a visa, an e-visa or nothing at all.

Whether you need a visa for Mongolia depends first on your nationality. Nationals of countries on Mongolia's tourist-visa exemption list can enter visa-free for a short period (the 2026 list covers exemptions of up to 30 days); nationals not on that list generally need a visa.

Purpose and duration then decide the type. Short tourist, transit or event visits can often use an e-visa (K-series), while work (C-series), study (E-series), family (F-series), investment/business (B-series) and long-term residence (G) require the specific visa class and, beyond 90 days, a residence permit.

Because exemption lists and rules change, travellers should always confirm their own nationality's position with the Immigration Agency before booking travel.
