Registration & Residence Permit Rules in Mongolia

Important
A residence permit is the authorisation issued to foreign nationals who intend to live in Mongolia for more than 90 days, for either official or private purposes. Mongolia enforces strict deadlines after arrival: a conforming visa holder must register with the Immigration Agency within 7 days, and must apply for the residence permit within 21 days of the first day of arrival.
Residence permits are issued in classes matching the visa purpose (for example the C employment permits and the G immigrant permit) and can be extended, changed in category, or cancelled through the Agency. Permit holders must also keep their registered address and passport information up to date.
Immigrant (G) permit holders face additional conditions, including not staying abroad more than 180 days in a single year and notifying the Agency before departing the country, or the permit may be cancelled.
