Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Every residence applicant, whatever their nationality, must satisfy three conditions: suitable accommodation in Monaco, sufficient financial resources to support their stay, and good character evidenced by a clean criminal record.

The permit requirement applies to anyone aged 16 or over who stays more than three months or settles in Monaco. Children under 16 live with their parents without a permit and apply in their own right at 16. Non-EEA nationals must additionally hold a French long-stay visa before applying.

Core conditions

  • Accommodation adequate for the household (ownership, a registered lease, or living with a close relative)
  • Financial resources: employment, business, pension or a bank reference
  • Good character: a criminal-record extract less than three months old
