Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

How you apply depends on the visa. Tourists do not apply in advance: a free 30-day visa is granted on arrival to all nationalities, provided you complete the online Traveller Declaration through the IMUGA portal within 96 hours before arrival and meet the entry requirements. Meeting Visa holders also arrive after submitting the Traveller Declaration.

Longer-stay visas are applied for online through dedicated government systems. Work Visas are handled through the Xpat Online System (xpat.egov.mv) using an eFaas account, after a Work Permit is issued. Business Visas go through the Business Portal (business.egov.mv), reviewed by the Ministry of Economic Development and then processed by Maldives Immigration. Dependent, Marriage and Resident visas are applied for through the IMUGA portal, usually after arriving on sponsorship.

  • Work: Xpat Online System (xpat.egov.mv)
  • Business: Business Portal (business.egov.mv)
