Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

For tourism, nationals of all countries are eligible for the free on-arrival visa as long as they satisfy the basic entry requirements. From 15 April 2025 entry is not granted on Israeli passports. Entry is always at the discretion of the immigration officer under the Maldives Immigration Act (Law No. 1/2007).

Eligibility for other visas is tied to purpose: expatriates with a valid Work Permit for the Work Visa; those doing government-approved business for the Business Visa; immediate family of professional-category expatriates for the Dependent Visa; and foreign nationals married to a Maldivian for the Marriage and Resident visas.

Basic on-arrival conditions

  • Passport with MRZ valid for at least 1 month
  • Confirmed onward/return tickets
  • Confirmed accommodation at a registered facility, or pre-approved sponsorship
  • Sufficient funds for the stay
  • Completed Traveller Declaration
  • Not falling under the entry-prohibition categories of the Immigration Act
