Who it is for

  • International students accepted onto a course at an approved Malaysian institution
  • Pupils at approved government, government-aided, international or private schools
  • Higher-education, language-centre and training-centre students (dependants allowed only for Master's/PhD students)

Requirements

  • Letter of offer/acceptance from an approved institution
  • Passport valid for the required minimum period
  • Application through EMGS and endorsement by the Immigration Department
  • Post-arrival medical examination within 7 days

What you can do

  • Study full-time at the sponsoring institution
  • Work part-time up to 20 hours per week in approved sectors (eligible categories only)
  • Master's/PhD students may bring eligible dependants

How to apply

  • Receive an offer from an approved institution
  • The institution/student applies via the STARS or EMGS portal (visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my)
  • EMGS forwards the approved file to the Immigration Department
  • Visa-required nationals obtain the entry visa via the official eVISA portal before arrival
