Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

How you apply for entry to Jordan depends on your nationality and purpose. Short-term visitors from eligible countries can obtain a visa on arrival at most air and land ports, or apply in advance through the Ministry of Interior e-services portal at eservices.moi.gov.jo or the MOI mobile app. Others must apply at a Jordanian embassy or consulate before travelling.

For longer stays — work, study, family or investment — you first obtain the relevant visa or sponsorship, then apply for a residence permit through the Ministry of Interior after arrival. Work permits are handled by the Ministry of Labour and investor routes by the Ministry of Investment.

Main application channels

  • Online: Ministry of Interior e-services portal / MOI app
  • On arrival: at eligible ports (not the King Hussein Bridge crossing)
  • In advance: at a Jordanian embassy or consulate
  • Sponsor-led: employer (work) or university (study) submits documents to the authorities
