Guided-tour requirement for certain nationalities
Citizens of several countries cannot travel to Iran independently and must book a guided tour through a registered Iranian agency, with longer processing and extra documentation.

Under a 2025 revision to Iran's visa policy, nationals of certain countries — reported to include the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and various European, Australian and New Zealand nationals — must visit Iran as part of a guided tour organised through a registered travel agency, rather than travelling independently.
These nationalities are also excluded from visa on arrival and the standard e-visa route, typically face substantially longer processing (reported at around eight weeks), and may need to supply additional details about their work, study and travel history. Their passports are usually stamped physically rather than receiving an electronic-only visa.
