Who needs a visa for Guinea-Bissau

Visa requirements depend on nationality and purpose: ECOWAS nationals are exempt for short stays, most others need an e-visa, visa on arrival, or embassy visa.

Nationals of ECOWAS member states (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo) may enter Guinea-Bissau without a visa for short stays under the ECOWAS free-movement protocol.

Holders of diplomatic and service passports of some Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) states also benefit from exemptions. Most other nationals require a visa, obtainable online, on arrival, or from a diplomatic mission before travel.

Anyone intending to stay beyond the short-stay limit, or to work, study or reside, needs the appropriate long-stay visa and, once in the country, a residence authorisation.
