Who needs a visa for Guatemala
How Guatemala's A/B/C nationality categories decide whether you enter visa-free, need a consular visa, or need a consulted visa.
Important
Category A: nationals of these countries are exempt from a visa to enter Guatemala and receive an entry stamp at the port of entry. Category B: nationals need a consular visa arranged before travel, though holders of certain valid visas or residences (for example US, Canadian, Mexican or Schengen) may be exempted under the regulation. Category C: nationals require a consulted visa, meaning the IGM must authorise it in advance.
The regulation also provides for category upgrades in defined circumstances — for example, Category B or C nationals holding permanent residence or long continuous residence in a Category A country may be treated as Category A, and Category C nationals married to a Guatemalan or who are children of Guatemalans may be treated as Category B.
Because category lists change, confirm your nationality's current classification and any exemptions with the IGM or a Guatemalan consulate before applying.
