Who it is for

  • Non-citizens taking up skilled or gainful employment in The Gambia

Requirements

  • Valid passport
  • Consent of the Director of Immigration to take up employment
  • Employment against an approved expatriate quota (where applicable)
  • Alien ID card obtained on arrival (non-ECOWAS nationals)
  • Supporting documents such as employment contract, qualifications and police clearance may be required

  • Reside in The Gambia and work for the sponsoring employer
  • Permit is biometric and renewable

How to apply

  • The employer applies to the Gambia Immigration Department for the residence and work permit
  • Non-citizens obtain an Alien ID card on arrival by presenting their passport
