Documents you may need

  • Valid passport (minimum one year's validity)
  • Notarised employment contract — signed by the employer before a Chilean notary and by the worker before the competent consulate — or, on the job-offer route, a notarised offer letter plus a signed acceptance letter
  • Proof of the employer's liquidity/financial standing
  • For corporate employers: validity and directors' certificates from the Civil Registry and Identification Service
  • Criminal-record certificate (18+, under 60 days old)
  • Recent colour photo on a white background
  • Apostille or legalisation of foreign documents; certified translation of any document not in Spanish or English

Frequently asked questions

  • No. SERMIG requires the application to be made from outside Chile through its Digital Procedures Portal. You travel to Chile only once you receive the Certificado de Residencia Temporal en Trámite.
